Stacked: each colour runs under the colours above it,
so no gaps show. Cut-out: colours sit side by side and never overlap; neighbouring
pieces are traced one by one, so their edges can differ by a fraction of a mm.
New colours and layers left out show in the layer list and go into the
download; the preview keeps the picture's own colours. The cut file has no watermark.
Layers (bottom to top)

Studio Basic, Brother CanvasWorkspace and other cutters. One price per picture, any

Download one SVG with a group per colour, a DXF, or one SVG per
layer, ready to cut from vinyl, paper or felt.
Frequently asked
What pictures work best?
Logos, clip art, cartoons, drawings and other pictures with flat areas of colour. Upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP image or a PDF (only its first page is used). Photos and pictures with soft shading or gradients don't split cleanly into a few colours.
What is the difference between stacked and cut-out layers?
Stacked layers (the default) run under the layers above them, so the pieces overlap and no gaps show when you layer vinyl, paper or felt. Cut-out layers never overlap: each colour is cut only where it shows, which uses less material. Neighbouring cut-out pieces are traced one by one, so their edges can differ by a fraction of a millimetre.
Can I change the colours?
Yes. Choose 2 to 8 colours, then give any layer another colour from the palette, merge it into another layer, or leave it out of the cut. Changing the number of colours or merging layers redraws the preview without a new upload; new colours and layers left out show in the layer list and go into the download.
Will it import into Cricut Design Space at the right size?
Yes. The SVG is sized in inches, the way Design Space reads SVG files, with one group per colour layer, so it lands on the canvas at exactly the size you chose. The DXF (one layer per colour) opens at the same size in Silhouette Studio, Brother CanvasWorkspace and other cutter software, and the zip holds one SVG per layer.
How much does it cost?
Uploading and previewing are free. Downloading costs 5 credits per picture, taken from your free monthly credits first (a free account gets 25 credits every month). After that, every size, colour change and format of the same picture is free.
Why did my pattern upload become an SVG?
When we find no sewing pattern pieces in a file you upload to convert, we turn its first page into a layered colour SVG instead of stopping with an error. It opens on this page; nothing is charged unless you download it.
Can I use any picture I find online?
No. Only upload art you own or have permission to use: your own drawings and logos, or artwork whose licence lets you cut it. QuietBookCut is a tool for making your own projects, not for copying someone else's work.
